Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things

In the afternoon, I had my Logic class see "The Shawshank Redemption"; a film based on a short story by Stephen King. It was fun to share a piece of my favorite movie; I did the same to a summer class last year. The result is always the same, they would say it is the best film they have ever seen despite the film being dated or old; I am not sure if some of them cried when a crucial character died, but it is safe to say that majority of them were teary eyed.

A student would always end up borrowing my original DVD copy of the said film, to share the experience with their family. Granted not all of the students were present, some may have even skipped class but those who decided to stay saw an emotionally gripping tale of the human will.

I just hope they learned a thing or two about hope and the power of positivity. Its a sad note that Shawshank lost to Forrest Gump in the oscars but Shawshank had a cult following and enjoyed fan support on DVD. Do the film a favor and buy it whenever possible.

BB blogs

April 23
Rustom er BB gandanghari wanted to watch Rannie Raymundo's show at the Aruba, a posh club in Manila. Due to the extremist belief of the club. BB was shoved, figuratively, out of the premises.

Personally, I have nothing against the '3rd sex' as long as they don't try to 'sex me up'. This even just shows how far civil freedom can go in this country. Granted there are places where cross dressers are not welcome like say the Archbishop's Palace of Cebu but in a socially interactive society that involves no religious overtones we must respect the right of one another.

Even if that right pertains to their gender.

Assignment

Here is a stolen photo of a person taking a passive respite from the five hour blackout in Cebu City. The photo was taken at SM City today with my significant other.

Without further ado here are the assignments for my Logic class at the U.V. Cebu

1. What is a barbara type of syllogism and what does it stand for?
2. What is Aristotle's definition of syllogism?
3. Give one example of everyday syllogistic mistakes.

Red Mobile: now good for all phones

Early this year I totally cursed Red Mobile; but as of the moment I can no longer complain.

I tried using my Red Mobile Sim on 'dated' Sony Ericsson k800i using the GSM network setting alone. Much to my surprise, it worked! So to be sure I borrowed an old Nokia 1200 from my aunt and tried using the Red Mobile sim. Nokia 1200 is a GSM network phone only with nary a 3G capabilities.

the result Red Mobile still worked. Its a good thing that I didn't throw away the old Red Mobile sim. The only question that remains are the following:

Will I now use Red Mobile as my primary sim?

Would the public now embrace Red Mobile?

How come Red Mobile, as a subsidiary of SMART, never made such announcement?

Php 0.5 text or call for Red to Red Mobile, will the public now switch to Red or will they start 'turning red' literally and figuratively.

Let us wait and see!!

Student picture: a violation of privacy

As much as I wanted to take pictures of seemingly 'sweet' students, their right of privacy hinders me to upload such picture. After all I would not want to have a student take a picture of me pissing or taking a sh*t.

I apologize to a certain student the word 'shit' is technically not a bad word per se as it is translated to FECES in tagalog 'TAE'.

As fun as teaching is I can not for the record say that all of my students enjoy my class; I was a student after all, who can stomach a person doing a monologue for more than an hour? Due to the nature of my job I have to talk non-stop. This explains why my girl (not a dog) would complain why my voice is so low in volume.

For students of mine, I hope that this blog would bring 'Sir' closer to you and know how he is as a person in hopes of making you say: 'at least this guy has the testicular fortitude to smile'

Remember:
Smile and the world smiles with you.

Sleepy summer

As a result of constant morning jogs and lack of sleep, my aunt takes powerful cat naps to re-energize her body. In a effort to show how much I adore her, as to opposed to ridicule, I am uploading her photo in the internet for all to see.

Yes, we all take cat naps. The banana in front of her is actually for sale.

U.V. Summer meeting.

Cebu City - The University of the Visayas College of Arts and Sciences held a meeting last April 17, 2009 for the purpose of informing and preparation for the upcoming I.Q.U.A.M.E on May 1-2.

The Philippine government's program on Institutional Monitoring and Evaluation for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (IQuAME), under the flagship of the Office of the President, Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

As always, I am not in the photo as I am the official maniniyot sa department.

Catching up for the summer

As a result of my recurring Asthma and sometimes coupled with fever, I got a flu shot from my doctor. Despite the photo looking like my ass cheeks (and no I have not actually seen my ass cheeks, its actually one of my biceps. The redness of the shot is still visible and a bit sore when moving the arms.

As I result I might not be able to go to gym for a day or two. So much for the so called 'weight loss' program. I still have a nasty pain on my lower left lower lung when breathing deeply, so I was given another medication called 'Omeprazole'. Dr. Polloso deduced that my ails are based either on Peptic Ulcer Disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease but since he has never been wrong since I dutifully followed his prescription.

Please pray for our continued health.
